This episode marks the last of the "chat" sessions between myself, Tracey, and Eddie. We discuss the ABC's of training. "A" stands for antecedent, or the signal you give to elicit a behavioral response. "B" is the behavior you get in return, and "C" is the consequence of that behavior. We talk about the ways to increase and decrease certain behaviors and which are the most effective.

In this chat session, we discuss the Four Secrets to Getting Results that Last: "It ain't happening today," baby steps, knowing what you're going to do, and spending time NOT training is just as effective as the time spent training.

PetSpeak is heavily involved with a community event called DogDaze that is offering three days of free dog training. I am joined by fellow trainers Eddie Blankenship and Tracey Betenbaugh to lead this event. We have gotten together to discuss behavior and training tips not only for those participating in the event, but also for PetSpeak listeners. In this first of four chat sessions, we discuss the importance of catching your dog doing something right and the importance of patience.
