The show’s name means “time to kill” in Latin. Each episode is about half an hour in length, which the hosts say is about the average person’s commute time to work. Reviews of horror movies and books are simple but complete including cinematography, acting, musical score, and plot. The likable hosts provide interesting trivia facts too. The show’s major drawback is the disorganization of episodes. While it’s clear the hosts have watched and analyzed the movie they are discussing, episodes tend to lack structure. Hosts include Dan, Duncan, Chris, Luke, and Adam. While many hosts rotate through the episodes, Dan and Duncan are consistently there. Dan gives enthusiastic openings for each episode, and Duncan provides his weekly rants. This show is very entertaining with funny bantering and regular segments such as Here is the News, What You Have Been Tweeting, and Gadget of the Week. [rating:4.5] Daniel [rating:4.5] Jana Satan and the Lord Show Category: TV and Film Rarely do we come across a unique movie review show, but this podcast certainly is different. Two hosts perform each episode as if one were God and the other the devil. Satan stays in character by using terrible language, discussing all things sexual, and recording his voice at a lowed pitch to achieve an evil sound. The Lord has a harder time staying in character. He constantly apologizes to Satan, does not stand up for “righteous” principles as often as he should, and has a nasally if echoing voice. While the two do banter and often disagree, the good versus bad angle could really be played up when discussing recent movies. The hosts are well spoken and have differing points-of-view when discussing acting, directing, cinematography, etc. We loved the “spoiler alerts” that give listeners the opportunity to skip ahead to a stated time in the show to avoid learning too much about a movie. Sound quality is the biggest downfall of this show.  Skype connections cause hosts’ voices to fade in and out, and these glitches are not edited. The hosts are very credible and have a lot to offer, especially once the show in enhanced. [rating:2.5] Daniel [rating:2.5] Jana Reel Pour Category: TV and Film Reel Pour is a great name for a podcast with hosts who review movies and wine. Andrew, Steve, and Jason are knowledgeable about both topics and try to link the wine in review to the movie being discussed. Sometimes the “link” is simply the shape of the bottle, its name, or its label. The hosts are laid back and divide their time nicely between the wine and movie reviews. The segway from movie to wine discussion was not usually smooth however. At times it was difficult to catch the transition. Despite this, we enjoyed the deep film analysis and learning about wine making. [rating:3.5] Daniel [rating:3.5] Jana The Colin and Matt Show Category: Comedy Colin and Matt are the British comedy duo who discuss a wide range of topics through funny segments such as “Chet and Carl’s Guide to. . .,” quizzes, and the Top 5. We loved the episode theme-based segment “What would (fill in the blank) do if (fill in the situation).” For example, “What would Mr. T do if asked to plan a bachelor party.” The hosts are creative, witty, and fast paced.  They are experts at satire, enthusiastic and extremely funny. The production and sound quality of this show is near that of professionally produced podcasts. We would highly recommend checking out this podcast.
