Comedian Hans Scharler hosts this completely not-serious show. The humor is like that found in The Onion, America’s fake news source. Hans finds comedy in most topics including movies, politics, sports. Each episode is no more than five minutes, and we would actually like to see the episodes lengthened. The NotHans Podcast is full of of vocal variations and tone inflections demonstrating Hans vocal diversity. Music and sound-effects add to the show’s comedic effect. Hans Scharler is wetting some appetites but still gives the impression that he is unsure of the show’s direction. Currently, The NotHans Podcast is flapping in the wind. With more episodes, we hope Hans Scharler grows more focused on what The NotHans Podcast is really meant to be.

Dan Delgado and intern, Jessica, host this live show each week. Chat room participants add their opinions and ideas as the show progresses. All things pop-culture are discussed including Yahoo’s top 10 searches. There is never a lack of material for these two to talk about. Sound effects are used in a great way to add spice to the show. Dan and Jessica spar through the entirety of each episode. Each host plays off the other well with Dan acting as the effective antagonist. Both hosts are very relaxed and really seem to enjoy bantering back and forth with one another. Unfortunately, the bantering can go on for quite some time; we’re talking an hour or more. While the show is funny, the humor starts to “wear off” by the half hour mark. After that hour, the ending is usually abrupt and a solid closure would be nice to hear. The Radio Dan Show is admirably consistent in publishing new content. Except for the length, we recommend listeners giving Dan Delgado and Jessica a try.

Podcasters and bloggers alike will benefit greatly Dave Jackson’s podcast. News, tips, and tools are given each week. Jackson tries to discuss free tools whenever possible as well. The tools are ones that Jackson has personally tried and researched. Listeners can be confident that the tools recommended will work as advertised. The host does a great job simplifying the tools discussed on the show in a way that is applicable to listeners. Each episode is nicely prepared and lasts from 10 to 15 minutes. Dave has a history entrenched in music allowing him to understand a proper recording environment, thus we were surprised to have noticed a “tinny,” almost metallic, sound that reverberates as Dave is speaking. We are not sure if this is the result of compression or his mic, pre-amp, etc. Jackson does have a tendency to read directly from the websites promoting the tools he discusses, but this is not too distracting. The podcast is consistently published, and the host offers his knowledge of valuable information in a personal manner. Having been the recipients of valuable information found in Weekly Web Tools, we recommend this show to others.
