Edgy Reviews Entry Nineteen: Edgy Reviews Transition from That Podcast Show

The team at That Podcast Show wanted to share its experiences and observations concerning podcasting and let listeners know that changes are on the way. Usually we are so busy reviewing new content on the show that it is difficult for us to share our own personal opinions. In episode 19, we are setting a precedent of explaining our opinions as a team and as individuals.

Through the conversation in this episode, we hope to convey our decisions about changes that will be affecting That Podcast Show. We highly encourage everyone to listen to this episode, as opposed to reading this explanation only, because how we express ourselves in this episode and going forward will be most noticeably different in the tone and expressions used in the show.

You may have noticed that we are also altering our name to Edgy Reviews from That Podcast Show. This is a more accurate title because it explains what our show does. That Podcast Show by itself was not conveying our purpose.

The theme found throughout each show will be “The Edge.” Many podcasters have found that podcasting is not “safe.” When you present news, opinions, and speculations to the public, you are placing yourself on the cutting edge and opening yourself up to criticism. If you are seeking to be a success over night or looking for an ego boost, you may be highly disappointed. Creating content, producing and editing a show, and publishing the content is hard work. Much of this work will go unnoticed. Being on the podcasting edge means being passionate about your content and opening yourself up to constructive criticism.

Additionally, we will be altering how we present the ratings for each podcast reviewed. Each of the hosts will give his or her own rating out of five stars based on how each felt about the show. Usually, there are three hosts (Daniel, Jana, and Bryan). After each show is discussed, the average of the three hosts’ review scores will be calculated for the final rating of that podcast. This approach will give a more well-rounded score for each show reviewed.

Edgy Reviews from That Podcast Show is not THE official judge of how to podcast. We are simply fellow podcasters who are avid fans of podcasting and appreciate how the medium allows everyone to voice their opinions. With this said, we do have our measure of what makes a successful and enjoyable podcast. This criterion can be found here.
