Podcast Reviews: Edgy Reviews from That Podcast Show 43: Dave’s Lounge, Rebellion Radio, A Sermon Audio

****For more detail not included in the written reviews please listen to the show to find out much more.***

Dave’s Lounge

Category: Music

Dave serves as the laid back D.J. spinning melodic music in this podcast. In Dave’s Lounge, listeners are offered a chance to lay back and relax to “chillout, trip hop, and downtempo electronic music.” Dave’s Lounge serves as a launching pad for musicians willing to submit their content particularly through PodSafe Music, which we are always pleased to hear. Many tunes played incorporate emotions such as sadness and desperation. According to Dave, his creation of Dave’s Lounge was inspired by a heart-breaking experience, and it is obvious he really associates with the music. While this genre of music does not appeal to us, we believe Dave will attract many more fans resulting in success for many Indy artists. Each episode lasts about half an hour, but if 30 minutes is just not long enough for you, Dave has over 130 more episodes available to sooth your ears.

Rebellion Radio

Category: Comedy

Seven, Idle, Halligan, and Slam produce Rebellion Radio, a podcast that does indeed rebel against many, if not most, social norms. We respect the hosts’ persistence shown by the number of released episodes which are broken into seasons and episodes. Though this show is labeled a comedy, it crosses that boundary into something perverse. Content from Rebellion Radio includes the hosts describing who they will “bang” and how, including types of necrophilia. Inspired by current events, hosts discuss the Olympic gymnasts and their worthiness for crude sexual acts. We could not help asking ourselves, “Aren’t many of the gymnasts that competed in this summer’s Olympics underage?” Adding to the repulsive content, episodes include hosts drinking as much liquor as possible while informing listeners who is getting intoxicated the quickest. It goes without saying that the language used is terrible. We listened to various episodes from each season hoping to hear improvement but unfortunately did not find it. The lack of solid sound quality only adds to the inadequacies of Rebellion Radio. Obviously, we must highly advise listeners to stay clear of this show.

A Sermon Audio: FBCVH

Category: Religion & Spirituality

A Sermon Audio is a style of podcasting becoming increasingly popular with churches and synagogues. These groups use podcasting as a tool to spread religious beliefs beyond the congregation. A Sermon Audio includes messages from Pastor Rob Casey to his church. We congratulate Pastor Casey for embracing this growing model of content delivery, but there are some things that could be done better. The pastor is never actually introduced, nor is the church’s name. These would be nice bits of information to find out in an intro. We would have better been able to review A Sermon Audio if the audio production was not so poor. We had great difficulty understanding what Pastor Casey was speaking about due to the usual hums and hisses associated with recording in an open auditory room. Unless the sound production improves, many listeners will not bother to checkout the podcast. We recommend Pastor Casey purchase a lavaliere microphone. Even a cheap model would drastically improve the sound quality when running through a standard mixer. It is exciting to see podcasting being used to promote such a variety of topics. Podcasting is a wonderful tool for communication to deliver content in the new media market.
